Since I receive lot of questions about our prices, discounts, and sales, I've decided to create this post to answer a few frequently asked questions.
Are your piercings more expensive than your competitors?
It depends. Sometimes a piercing with basic jewelry costs less than our competitors, sometimes it costs a little more, and sometimes it costs about the same. Prices for our jewelry high-quality, internally-threaded/threadless American-made jewelry and services at Classy Body Art are set based on our rigorous analysis of business expenses, jewelry wholesale prices, sales history, sales forecasts, market research, and piercer's qualification, training, and expertise.
Comparison shopping for a great deal is not a recommended method for selecting a piercing studio. It can be very challenging for customers to compare prices "apples to apples" because of the huge variety in piercer qualifications and jewelry quality. Unfortunately, even well-informed customers can be misled by false advertising and deceptive language used to describe a piercer's experience and jewelry. The Association of Professional Piercers, of which I am a member, recommends strategies for selecting a piercer here and provides information on appropriate jewelry here and here.
How much will my piercing cost?
It depends on the type of piercing you would like, the type/color/material of jewelry you want, and sometimes your anatomy. As a basic guideline, we post our prices here. Knowing a few extra details, I can give you a pricing estimate over the phone or through email. I can provide the most accurate prices in person. If you are getting a new piercing, I will tell you the what the piercing fee is and the cost of jewelry.
Why do you specify that the piercing fee is separate from the jewelry fee?
I am required to collect and forward sales tax on behalf of the State of New York on jewelry sales. Keeping the piercing fee separate means that my customers pay less sales tax in accordance with NYS tax laws.
Will you be having a sale in the near future?
No. Classy Body Art's business model, as reflected in our mission, is to provide safe, professional piercing and high-quality jewelry. We emphasize quality and safety while offering the most competitive prices possible all year-round. Piercing studios that offer deeply discounted piercings and jewelry follow a different business model typically driven by volume and inexpensive jewelry sold at a very high markup. Simple put - that business model goes against our mission.
We strive to communicate honestly and openly with potential customers and encourage everyone to conduct extensive research before selecting a piercer. If you do your research and choose Classy Body Art, we aim to offer you a consistent, positive, professional experience. To attempt to attract customers and drive volume with deep discounts (instead of with exceptional service and quality jewelry) goes against the core of our business.
Uh-oh I got a piercing somewhere else, what should I do?
First of all, that's okay, we don't judge. If you need help with your piercing, looking for high-quality jewelry, or want a new piercing, we can assist you regardless of where you may have previously visited. The important thing is that you find a piercer with whom you are comfortable and confident in his or her abilities.
Classy Body Art is the premiere body piercing studio in Albany, NY. Will VonDoome is the only piercing Member of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) in the Capital Region of New York.
