Glasswear Studios, plugs, gauged ears We are kicking off our second weekly blog post series - the Piercing of the Week!
This is an initial lobe piercing done with 6 gauge, dark blue, single-flared plugs from Glasswear Studios.
Everyone is different but if a client knows that they want to stretch their ear lobes to a larger size, my preference would be to do a slightly larger initial lobe piercing (say, 4-6 gauge). This gives me and the client better control of the positioning and stretching process.
This gentleman ultimately wants to stretch his ears to a larger gauge. Based on the anatomy of his ear (he has fairly large, detached lobes) and his preferences, I was able to start him at a 6 gauge.
This gave him the flexibility to wear interesting jewelry in the short-term and progressively stretch his ears to the size he desires.
